On the entrance to fleet area the truck is handed over to the yard network and the driver is out of the vehicle control. The dispatcher selects the target dock and the truck drives autonomously to the dock operation. With intelligent interaction of powertrain, steering, braking and environment detection with camera, radar as also further sensors, it maneuvers to and from the dock, automatically stopping if an object in the track is detected. Less minor damage being caused by complex driver maneuvering and saving of driver time is the benefit. A smartphone app keeps the driver informed of the status of the operations and he only has to return into the cabin when the truck is ready to leave the yard.
