"TF Kaan Fighter Jet: Turkey’s Stealth Leap into Future Warfare"

The TAI TF Kaan is Turkey’s first indigenous fifth-generation stealth fighter, developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) to modernize the Turkish Air Force and reduce reliance on foreign platforms. Following its maiden flight on February 21, 2024, the Kaan has entered an intensive testing phase, with weapon systems trials scheduled for 2026. The aircraft features a stealth-optimized design with internal weapons bays, advanced radar-absorbing materials, and a digital fly-by-wire system. It is powered by twin General Electric F110 engines, with plans to transition to domestically produced engines in future variants. The Kaan is equipped with cutting-edge avionics, including the MURAD AESA radar, TULGAR Helmet Integrated Imaging System, and KARAT Infrared Search and Tracking System (IRST). Its armament includes indigenous missiles such as the Gökdoğan and Bozdoğan air-to-air missiles, and the Çakır cruise missile. With a projected payload capacity of up to 10 tons, the Kaan aims to rival existing fifth-generation fighters in both capability and cost-effectiveness. TAI plans to deliver the first units to the Turkish Air Force by 2028, with aspirations for international exports to allied nations.
