Monday at the farm

Monday is our big Boxer and Labby day. Means we get lots of laughs, slobbery licks and pool time is a blast!

Charlie wasn’t happy at all about not being allowed in the playground today. Obviously he can’t because he’d go for a swim in the dam and he can’t get his stitches wet. So whilst the doggies warmed up this morning in the playground, Charlie watched from a vantage point and barked to let everyone know he wanted in too!

Buddy the Tibetan Terrier and Bandit the Boxer had a stare down. Battle of who was more stubborn. We had to give it to Buddy for even taking on Bandit with this one. Bandit’s been working on his stink eye for years with us and he never folds. Well done Buddy you gave it a red hot go. And Bandit tipped his hat to him too, with a romp and chase afterwards like “Nawww my maaaaate, I can help you in this area ... stick with me at home time!”

Farm Dogs in the Spotlight...
We’re bringing back our Farm Dogs in the Spotlight segment and starting off with one of our doggies that’s been here a long time, since they were a pup. Sassy the Weimaraner.

Two and half year old Sassy has been coming to the farm several times a week for over two years now. We’ve watched Sassy grow up into a beautiful girl.

Sassy is soft, sweet and smart. Sassy is an all round girl that enjoys all the activities but her most favourite thing at the farm is the bush hunt. Sassy is formally trained in Nosework, so she not only loves the hunt, she’s mighty good at it.

Sassy is also often voted best dressed at any of our holiday events. Her Halloween costumes and her birthday tutu were particular favourites of ours.

Sassy has built up her water confidence over the years and is now a very confident swimmer and particularly loves the new heated pool. Sassy is loving her afternoons at the moment going for a warm dip and then basking in the sun or by the fireplace.

Sassy is a real farm dog at heart.

The afternoon pool session...
The afternoon in the pool was awesome! We installed one of the ramps over the weekend and the dogs knew exactly what it was for! They remembered how these things work from the big pool over Summer and it was great to see so many get in and enjoy themselves.

Today was Nova the Boxer puppy’s day to show us all she’s a water baby in the making! She made many attempts at the ramp but when she finally made it in, well that was it! She kept getting in over and over and it was so lovely to watch. When she built up her confidence she made a beeline for Aunty Sam’s shoulders. It was very interesting trying to film with a wiggly Boxer puppy on your shoulders 🤣

Home time ...
Bandit has an understudy, and she’s cute and tiny and a sponge for ‘how-to-Bandit’.

Bandit has taught her the afternoon routine now and Nova is treating her apprenticeship very seriously. Bang on the door? Check. Puppy dog eyes? Check. Walk inside like you own the joint? Check and check.

Whilst Bandit kept Evie company with her homemade pizza, Nova lapped up cuddles and being tucked in by Elle.

And then when Uncle Luke came to collect them, Nova did the “Nah I’m staying here” so well.

I think Bandit was quite proud to find his little mate Nova had taken on his teachings so well. You did good buddy, the force is strong in this one.
