We actually use chains for something else,
our downspouts.

These are called rain chains, and they’re a decorative alternative to traditional gutter downspouts. Instead of a big metal pipe, water trickles down the chain and into a drain basin or splash block below.

Do they work?
Yes.
Are they as effective in heavy rain as a regular downspout?
Not always.

But for light to moderate rain, they do the job, and look a whole lot better doing it.
