Mauritia was once a small continent that broke off from India millions of years ago, around the time dinosaurs went extinct. As it drifted away, it got stretched out like a long ribbon and eventually broke into smaller pieces. Now, these pieces are scattered across the Indian Ocean, hidden beneath the water. Scientists have found bits of ancient rock there that help tell the story of Mauritia’s journey. It’s pretty amazing to think a lost continent is lying under the ocean! It’s like a real-life puzzle hidden under the sea.
