In 2004, Viktor Vekselberg, the Russian billionaire businessman, purchased the largest collection of Karl Faberge Eggs from the family of media magnate Malcolm Forbes for $100M before it was taken to the auction.

This is how the largest collection of fourteen Faberge Eggs got back to its motherland.

After this, Vekselberg created the “Link of Time” Foundation with the main mission to repatriate lost cultural values of 19th-20th centuries to Russia.

In 2006, the foundation began the restoration of the famous Naryishkin-Shuvalov Palace located in the very heart of St Petersburg, Russia - 50 meters off the corner of Nevsky Prospekt and the Embankment of Fontanka River.

It is required the highest professionalism of the restorers and 7 years of time to finish the renovation of the palace and managing the Museum of the collections of the House of Faberge and other significant Russian jewelry companies operated in the times of Russian Empire.

The Faberge Museum opened the doors for visitors in November, 2013.

Since the significant purchase of the largest collection of Faberge Eggs and creating the Foundation, the collection of the museum grown up to over 4,000 items - silver plate, interior, cult and phantasy items, series of military medalions, watercolors, cigarette cases and snuffboxes, tea and coffee sets, tableware, candlesticks, samovars, Russian silver, portrait and photo frames, stationary, figures of animals, watches, bells for servants, brooch, enamel stuff and icons.
