(the video is incorrectly labelled as Chayanat)
From the Afternoon:
Gauri Pathare is one of the most prominent young singers in the arena of classical music today. Recently she figured in the nominations for the Global Indian Music Awards declared by Wizcraft. Others who were nominated included singers like Rashid Khan and Shubha Mudgal. Gauri was also given the award in the name of Ramakrishnabuwa Vaze, one of the giants of the early 20th century.

She is gifted with a tuneful and melodious voice and a pleasing personality Gauri renders traditional classical and semi-classical music with complete competence. She presents various forms of music ranging from hardcore classical to natyasangeet with command over accent of different genres. We have heard her last year rendering the raga 'Jaijaivanti' in a slow tempo khyal with effortless ease at a concert in memory of Allauddin Khan. Her voice and her presentation had the requisite degree of maturity and verve. She has also been lending her voice to songs for Marathi films.

Gauri has been eclectic in her training. As a child, she learned under the late Gangadhar Pimpalkhare of the Kirana gharana. Later she trained under the famous singer/composer Jitendra Abhisheki for six years from 1994 till his death in 2000. Later on, she became a pupil of the well-known singer Padma Talwalkar. Today, she manages to blend different aspects of her training into a harmonious whole.
