2022 New Kia EV6 (Specs, Performance, Price & More) - Full Detailed Review!!!

Full details of the Kia EV6 have now been revealed, with the electric SUV available in a choice of three trims and two battery options. It’ll be an alternative to the Volkswagen ID4 and Nissan Ariya when it hits UK roads in September.

It’d be fair to say the Kia EV6 brings some pretty wacky design features to an otherwise simplistic body. The overall profile is typical of a sleekish SUV — with a boxy stance and sloping roofline — but it looks as though someone went a bit mad with the pencil when it came to the front and rear lights

There are huge, wide headlights at the front joined by a small grille with a wildly-styled plastic trim at the bottom of the bumper. The rear taillights compromise of one full-length light bar that droops down from the top of the boot towards the wheel arches — with a huge part-reversing light, part-chrome strip that looks like it’s holding the lightbar in place.

Opt for the GT version of the Kia EV6, and you’ll see bright yellow brake callipers and a tweaked front bumper.

You’ve got a choice of two batteries in the Kia EV6 — a 77.4kWh one and a 58kWh unit. Go for the larger one and you’ll get 316 miles between charges, though no word yet on how capable the 58kWh version is.

In range-topping GT guise, the EV6 gets 585hp worth of power from two electric motors, allowing it to cover the 0-60mph sprint in 3.5 seconds. This gets an electronic limited-slip differential to help manage that power effectively. There’s a less potent version of the all-wheel-drive car with 173kW that’ll manage it in 6.2 seconds, though.

With the 77.4kWh battery, you’ll be able to cover 316 miles between charges. No word yet on how far the 58kWh version will go, though.

Use a 270kW fast charger and you’ll see the battery topped from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes, plus you’ll get access to the KiaCharge service which looks to bring a number of memberships for charging networks under one account so you don’t have to fiddle about with a thousand different accounts.

The Kia EV6 interior is simple. The dashboard is pretty uncluttered, save for a large infotainment screen and a digital driver’s display — both 12-inches in size — though separate physical controls remain for climate control. There’s no large gear shifter either, with a rotary dial slapped on the centre console just behind the push-button start.

Its single-spoke steering wheel looks pretty delighted to see you as well and still has the usual audio and cruise control buttons on it. The Kia EV6 hasn’t gone the buttonless way of Tesla for now, then. The seats are upholstered in fabric made from recycled plastic as well, said to be about the equivalent of 111 plastic bottles each.

The Kia EV6 has 520 litres of boot space in the back, with an extra bit of storage under the bonnet that’s 20-litres in size for the all-wheel-drive car and 52 for the rear-driven one.

You’ll be able to pick from an entry-level version of the Kia EV6 and a GT-Line spec car, as well as a full-whack GT car.

How that’ll translate to an equipment list in the UK is an unknown, but there will be two 12-inch screens and a 14-speaker surround-sound system available for the electric SUV. On top of that, an augmented head-up display is included as well.

A fair bit of driver assistance technology is thrown into the Kia EV6. This includes an ‘i-Pedal’ system which allows the car to be driven with one pedal, like Nissan’s e-Pedal system, by bringing it to a stop using regenerative braking. Adaptive cruise control, remote parking and a system that can detect danger as you exit the car will all be offered as well.

Orders are now being taken for the Kia EV6, with production beginning in July. Expect to see the first EV6s on UK roads in September — though the GT won’t arrive until October 2022.

The range kicks off at £40,895, with full-whack GT versions of the EV6 starting at £58,295.
