Brabant Horse Field Day 2016

Joe attends the Brabant Horse Field Day at the Julian Dairy Farm in Medford, Wisconsin.
American Brabants and their owners gather to plow, log, harvest and talk about the breed. We see great footage of these beautiful horses at work.

We first meet Susan Zenker and her team of two Brabant Geldings, Fin and Haley. She likes their temperament and says the Brabants like to work. She uses them at home for wagon and sleigh rides. She also has 2 other Brabants, a Percheron and a Spotted Draft Horse.

Next up is Tim Kelser who uses his Brabants for events, people moving and parades.
Cliff Brown has Percheron mares and was at the event to learn more about the breed with the plan to breed is mares with a Brabant. He uses his for farming and logging.

Jason Julian demos his new experimental forged stoneboat for one-horse logging. We watch great footage of him logging with one of his Brabants. We also see footage of him offloading a wagon of logs with a small boom loader while his team standing calmly by.

Jason and his son go into the field with a 2-up team hauling a forage harvester and a 4-up team pulling a wagon and working together to cut and haul corn silage.

Lastly Joe talks with John Davis who uses Brabants to put up hay and oats and thrash oats and beans. John talks about h is John Deere plow and the differences between the old models and the newer one used at the field day.
