In November 2022, Constable Zane Wienk was laying road spikes in Manukau when the target vehicle swerved across the road and hit him, smashing him into a tree.

Zane suffered multiple, near-fatal, injuries but his life was saved by the actions of paramedics and his colleagues. In this video, Zane tells of the incident, his long and gruelling recovery and his determination to return to the front line.
