Vacuum Forming Clonetrooper Armor with a Single Hole Platen

I changed out the vacuum forming platen to a sheet of 1/8" aluminum with a single hole in the center. The old forming platen was a sandwich of MDF and .020 aluminum and air was able to seep in through the MDF.

The Clontrooper armor was sculpted by TC-1536 and I am pulling .090 HIPS over the molds. The single hole platen really pulls the plastic down tight allowing the details to come through!

The large dome is the base for the Imperial Naval Trooper helmet, Death Star Gunner helmet, and the Rebel Fleet Trooper helmet. This was from the US Navy Talker helmet from World War II.
