Kayaks were developed over a 5000 year period in Alaska, and were uniquely suited to the needs of the Eskimo and Aleut peoples. Based on an exhibition at the Alaska State Museum. A film made in conjunction with the Alaska State Museum exhibit that covers the history, culture, design, construction, uses, and techniques surrounding this unique northerm watercraft. [videorecording] / produced by Pacific Communications & Marketing ; a production of the Alaska Department of Education ; producers, Eric Eckholm, Janet Fries ; director, Lisle Herbert ; writer, Dave Hunsaker. David W. Zimmerly and John Heath, internationally known experts on the traditonal Kayak provide narration as well.
