House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday doubled down on her insistence on a comprehensive stimulus package worth at least $2.2 trillion, telling reporters that “it’s hard to see how we can go any lower”. House Democrats are keeping pressure on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to present a new coronavirus relief bill for a vote next week. Pelosi said Thursday that voting on some version of a Democratic stimulus bill is one of the options that's been under discussion within the party to break the impasse with the White House and Senate Republicans. But she explained how “when we go into negotiation it's about the allocation of the resources,” and she believes that the United States have greater needs which is why she wants still wants a $2.2 trillion stimulus bill.

Pelosi has been getting some push back from House Democrats who are frustrated with the lack of movement on negotiating a new stimulus relief bill because many of them don’t want tot go home for election campaign trials without a deal passed. She said in an interview with MSNBC that she has a "beautifully diverse caucus” and that some Democrats want her to once again put the $3.4 trillion HEROES Act — which passed in the House in May but has not been considered in the Senate — on the House floor for another vote and "come down from there." She explained how “she is used to building consensus in her own caucus and that she is proud that members of her party have been solid in terms of what we need”. However she explained how “now the economy has additional needs than it did 4 months ago for restaurants, airlines and the rest and those things have to be taken into consideration as well in a new bill”.

There were some additional signs of movement because Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin had their first phone conversation in more than two weeks about virus relief legislation and now we are seeing both sides come back to the negotiating table to discuss the second stimulus package. Speaking to reporters at the White House Mark Meadows came out and said “I’ve had a number of conversations with Democrats on Capitol Hill, not just the Problem Solvers Caucus but a number of others and he thinks there's a growing sense that there's still some real needs that need to be addressed. He explained how the White House is willing to address these needs and get a deal passed soon. In addition, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows told CNBC that he is the most optimistic he has been that both sides of the aisle can come to an agreement.

On top of good news from lawmakers in Congress, more great news came out from President Donald Trump continues to urge Republicans to "Go for the much higher numbers," in the next stimulus package. He continued to show support for the Bill announced by the problem solvers caucus earlier this week saying that he agrees with a lot of aspects in the bill such as the direct stimulus checks and unemployment benefits for millions of Americans. President Trump called on congressional Republicans to support a massive economic relief bill with “much higher numbers” and direct stimulus payments for Americans.
