How We Prepare Our African Penguin Chicks for Exhibit

Two of our four African penguin chicks just made their debut on exhibit this morning! 🥹💙

The two new chicks on exhibit are named "Bunker" and "Althea." Bunker can be identified by the brown bracelet on his left wing, and Althea now sports a yellow bracelet on her right wing. Both chicks now weigh 40 times their hatch weight! 🤯

Getting these chicks ready for exhibit is no easy feat! For the last few months, trainers have been teaching the chicks to hand-feed, socializing them with adult penguins, and introducing them to water. Learn more about what it takes to prepare baby penguins for exhibit: https://bit.ly/3KOjNiS

Ready to see the chicks yourself? Book a ticket to the Aquarium to see Bunker and Althea! Stay tuned for more on the other two chicks' debut.
