Calling the situation in West Asia “concerning" and “worrisome," Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday told the Lok Sabha that the ongoing conflict has created economic, national security and humanitarian challenges for India, given the region’s strategic importance for energy supplies, trade routes and the large Indian diaspora living and working there.

“The situation in West Asia at this time is concerning. The situation in West Asia is worrisome," the Prime Minister said, stressing that the conflict has implications not only for the region but also for the global economy and the daily lives of people across countries.
