Heavy floods hit the Balochistan region of Pakistan on January 5th 2022.

Heavy rainfall has caused dangerous flash flooding in coastal areas. Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate, as flood waters threaten homes.

The cities affected include Gwadar گوادر and Pasni پسنى. Drainage systems were overwhelmed, causing sewer water to enter homes. Electricity outages were reported as power systems failed.

The army has been drafted in to help with rescue operations, as citizens become stranded. Residents have been advised not to leave their homes during the floods. Emergency shelters have been set up to help those affected.

Warnings remain in place as heavy rains continue. Authorities are assessing the situation as it develops.
