Happy Valentine's Day! Join us for this special Valentine's Day video as we continue our Founders' Week Celebration! On February 11, 1969, Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook co-founded Dance Theatre of Harlem to challenge perceptions and create new opportunities. Today we celebrate our founders and 54 years of an ongoing commitment to uphold the values they established- access, opportunity and excellence!
To celebrate our founders' legacy, join us for an exciting lineup of events February 13-19, including FREE Adult Dance Classes with DTH Resident Choreographer and incoming Artistic Director Robert Garland and Djoniba Dance Centre, as well as a panel on the diaspora of Black ballet featuring DTH Artistic Director Virginia Johnson, hosted by The Hemispheric Institute and the Center for Ballet and the Arts, a Winterside Chat look at Arthur Mitchell's enduring Lecture/Demonstration, and the DTH On Demand encore streaming of Creole Giselle.
The week will culminate with a virtual Sunday Matinée, February 19th at 3pm on our YouTube channel. Click the link in our bio to register for our events!
