This waterspout was filmed in the Florida Keys in July of 2008. While fishing with our in-laws from Chicago (Andy & Gina), we saw something moving across the water. It was creating a wake. We just went to check it out and get some pretty cool footage. Keep in mind, this was before any of us had the luxury of owning a smart phone. We were recording with the only camera on the boat. (2008). We have lived on the water for years and have never seen a waterspout/tornado form. We were pretty close to it & should have looked up sooner.
The max wind speeds of formed funnel clouds, inside, are between 50-80 mph. It ended up running into an island and dissipating. We were not able to get that on video, but we did get some still pictures, for Gina. :D
