I have to admit we were pretty surprised by the intense conditions at the Grand Canyon so we mentioned some recommended gear in this video. Please bring this stuff along. If you don't already own these items or are looking to upgrade, here are the products that we researched and purchased on our own that we love. Please consider using the links below if you choose to purchase these items. We receive a small commission, at no cost to you. It helps us create our our videos and give our honest opinions.

Camelbak M.U.L.E Hydration Pack- https://amzn.to/3dRhpaO. I've owned 3 Camelbaks and have been pleased with all of them. The M.U.LE. is my most recent purchase and we chose this one because of the 3 Liter water bladder and storage available for our other items. It has exceeded our expectations. Cool, comfortable, and great weight distribution. It never feels heavy, no matter how full we pack it. Plus, it's a great price. We highly recommend!

Camelbak Mini M.U.L.E Hydration Pack- https://amzn.to/36eXTRB. This pack is the mini version of the pack the we love and our kids love it too! Quite a bit smaller than the original holding 50 oz of water, it is the perfect size for a small child all the way up to a woman (I can use this for long runs). Our kids love that it's not alot of work to get a drink when they hike and it comes in several cool designs and has a nice pocket for snacks!

Goodr Polarized Sunglasses- https://amzn.to/3yq94Tq. Great gear shouldn't just be for runners! I received a pair of these in my swag bag after completing a half marathon and they've been my go-to sunglasses for the past to years. They are light, comfortable, never slip, and the polarized lens keep the glare away. After Matt had stolen them a few too many times, he finally bought his own pair. We are a Goodr family. Plus, they are an incredible value for the quality of glasses they are.

Hoka Arahi Running Shoe- https://amzn.to/3xgUi1b. Matt gets significant leg pain because his feet pronate (vibrate) when we walks or runs. These shoes have taken care of that and made hiking possible for him again. The wide base with a sturdy grip have made a huge difference.

Asic's Gel Venture- https://amzn.to/3Ax6Vao I've been a runner and hiker for 20+ years and Asic's are the only shoes I use. They are lightweight, cool, and offer excellent cushion and support. Plus they are usually less than other brands and hold up great. They are my very favorite shoes to hike in.

Jason Aldeen Georgia Boy Hat- https://amzn.to/3e7mJr1. Keep the sun away, stay cool, and look good in this straw cowboy hat. I bought this for Matt for father's day and it's the perfect hat for exploring the West!

Sursip 1 Gallon ,Vacuum Sealed Insulated, Travel Water bottle- https://amzn.to/3e7mJr1. We finally got rid of our cheap one we bought 19 years ago because it leaked, spilled when we poured it , and didn't keep drinks cold. All these problems were solved with the Sursip. We bought this one because it was half the price of it's high end competitors as well as had half the customer complaints! We have not been disappointed. Although the ice retention is around 8 hours (way less than the competitors), our family normally has used all that water way before then on our road trips.

Lifetime 77 Quart Cooler- https://amzn.to/2V53pnm. We received a cooler as a wedding gift 19 years ago and decided it was time to upgrade to something that didn't need ice replaced daily. After alot research online and asking family and neighbors, we decided on this cooler. Here is what we like about it. 1. It is incredibly sturdy and well made. This will most likely be the last cooler we ever own. 2. Up to 9 days ice retention. So far we've seen it last 4 days but are pleased with those results since it was 100 degrees on our last trip. 3. Locally made in the West. Yep it's from a company right in Utah. 4. Less than half the cost of its upper end competitor but offers the same features. A great cooler is a road trip must!
