Welcome to our first British instalment of VICE Talks Film, the series where we sit down with the most talented minds in the movie world to discuss their work and how they're looking to push the boundaries of cinema.

In this episode, we caught up with British director Shane Meadows, creator of such movies as 'A Room for Romeo Brass,' 'Dead Man's Shoes,' the iconic film 'This is England' and the subsequent TV series of the same name.

Shane is now back with his third televised series, This is England '90, which picks up the characters' stories at the dawn of rave culture. We talked to the filmmaker about the challenge of transitioning from film to TV, the portrayal of drugs on screen, the death of subculture and his secret hand in Disney's Herbie reboot.
