Did Apple fix its Mac Pro problem? | Upscaled

Apple announced its new Mac Pro model at WWDC this year, and it's a radical departure from its previous design. After designing the last Mac Pro as a slim quiet, low-powered cylinder, the new model is a 40lbs, full-size desktop tower. Beyond that, it will probably cost tens of thousands of dollars. Why the big change? What went wrong with the last model, and what can we expect from the new Mac Pro?

*UPDATE: 9:30 Turns out you don't need an adapter to connect 8-pin, but it looks like these power pins are still blocked by MPX modules, and the question about whether Apple will supply cables remains.*
