Red Sea Max 250 (6) Unnecessary chiller installation? "read description"

This video shows the addition and installation of a new JBJ Aritica 1/5 horsepower chiller into my new Red Sea Max 250 reef system aquarium. The installation went smoothly except for one very minor hiccup, which you will see in the video. The chiller works great, fits nicely into the cabinet stand and is very, very quiet. I was experiencing temperatures in the 83.5 range and I had heard that these units run a little hot due to being enclosed and not ventilating very well. Hopefully the video is informative as the installation may have been unnecessary (read below).
I bought a new, nicer digital tank thermometer since I had the new system I figured, why not? This one shows the time, tank and air temp and has a light. My others are digital, but are cheapies and only show the tank temp. Tonight there was over a 2 degree disparity between what the chiller was reading and what the new thermostat read. The chiller was the lower number. I found that odd, so I put not one, but 2 of my other thermometers in the tank with the probe in the same spot as the new one. Low and behold my new thermometer is reading about2 degrees too high. The other 2 read essentially the same. That being the case the hottest the tank got was 81.5 and while on the warm side, probably would have warranted buying the chiller. That said the chiller will help to maintain a more constant temperature, but may have well been an unneeded cost! Enjoy the videos! More to come!
