【Journey】how to refresh connection to meet companions

A good wait time before refreshing your connection on all consoles is 30 seconds. If you don't touch your left stick or chirp for 40 seconds you will sit down.

You need some distance from your companion for a connection. About the length of two war machines/stone dragons/guardians.

You will disconnect from a companion if you are too far away from them, enter portals without them, or go to the next level without them.

A lot of people get the feeling there's not many players online anymore. Sometimes that's true but most of the time there's a good amount. From what I have seen, there are usually 5-10 people in the same level either connected already, on different checkpoints, or at the same checkpoint just in a different lobby than you. The players in the level are split between 2-4 lobbies. You can use the techniques in this video to get into a new lobby maybe (or the same one as last try if you're unlucky) to meet someone specific or hang around somewhere and do this where other people will be like level entrances.

The original ps3 version has perfect connecting. If a companion is near you with a matching level, it will get the two of you together. If it doesn't, you can either unplug your lan cable from the router or sign out of psn. If you press triangle on account management you can sign out and sign in quickly.

On ps4, when you enter a level you are stuck in the same lobby. There are other players with matching levels but stuck in different lobbies. The plus side of ps4 is that it is incredibly easy to refresh your connection and make an attempt at a new lobby. That is what this video mostly shows you with double-tapping the PS button. Double-tapping will bring you back to the last PlayStation screen you were at. Go to network settings and double tap back and forth from the game to the box to connect to the internet quickly.

On PC, there is the same issue as ps4 and the quickest way I found to get a new lobby is to restart the game and press continue. So it is a bit slower. On iOS, I have not experimented much. Fancy flying is kinda difficult without a controller, so going to chapter select takes forever. Either get a controller and learn chapter select history lesson skip or restart the app for the fastest lobby refresh. Also don't be surprised if you meet a first run red robe in white. It's pretty unstable in a lot of funny ways
