Protesting Tamil Nadu farmers climb mobile tower in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar
Tamil Nadu farmers holds protest at Jantar Mantar against the central government on the issues of crop prices, Cauvery water-sharing and loan waiver promises. They said that the government is not giving the promised process of the crops. They also raised the Cauvery water issue. They declared that they will go to Varanasi and file their nomination against Naremdra Modi, if their demands are not accepted.
They also raised the issues of farmer-suicide and brought with them the skulls of the farmers who committed suicide.
Tamil Nadu State President of National South India River Interlinking Farmers Association (SNSIF), Ayyakannu said, “He (PM Modi) promised to give 2 times profitable price for the agricultural products. Then paddy and wheat were 18 rupees per kilo. He promised to give 54 rupees per kilo, but we are getting only 22 from the last 5 years. Sugarcane he promised 8000 rupees per ton, but we are getting only 3000 per ton. This time haven’t mentioned profitable price of crops in their manifesto.
