Wide-Field Portable Imaging - Brandon Tackett | 2022-05-08

Astrophotographer Brandon Tackett presents on short-focal-length, portable astrophotography. Brandon talks about setups ranging 135-400 mm of focal length, the many advantages of having a short focal length portable rig, equipment that can be used including new alternatives in the market to achieve autofocus with camera lenses. He includes additional considerations to achieve focus with a 135mm lens, including the reasons why an electronic autofocuser is not desirable, but necessary in order to get the best imaging results. He wraps up the discussion talking about how sampling, seeing, and camera sensor and pixel sizes play together and demonstrates how image resolution improves dramatically by choosing the right camera for the telescope or lens you are planning to use.
