Game of Thrones Dragonstone Castle is a beautiful 10.8km costal walk close to Bilbao.

Gaztelugatxe is the setting for the Game of Thrones castle of Dragonstone. In reality, the CGI fortress is the home of a remote church dedicated to San Juan de Gazelugatxe. This route from the town of Bakio, a 45 minute bus ride from Bilbao is a total of 5.4km to the church. An easy day walk this church having been built on a small island joined to the mainland by a bridge before ascending the 231 steps to the church.
Legend has it that ringing the bell 3 times will bring good luck and enable your wish to be granted. This is truly a fairy tail location and well worth a visit if you are in Northern Spain.
If you are looking for longer walks or day hikes the Picos de Europa are nearby and were the next step on my journey into Northern Spain
