Hollywood Palace Fred Astaire Ethel Merman 1966 'Some People', Duet-Medley
The Ethel Merman segment of this show, featuring the only performance of Astaire and Merman together. Their first association was thirty-six years earlier when Astaire choreographed number in Merman's debut Broadway show, the Gershwin's Girl Crazy (also starring Ginger Rogers).
Here Merman sings her special adaptation of Some People (Styne, Sondheim) followed by a medley with Fred, including "I Got Rhythm" (Astaire), "Everything's Coming Up Roses" (Merman), "Let's Face the Music and Dance" (Astaire/Merman), "I Get A Kick Out Of You" (Merman), "Cheek To Cheek" (Astaire), "Putting on the Ritz" (Merman), "They Say it's Wonderful" (Astaire & Merman), "Anything Goes" (Astaire/Merman)
