Who are the Five Tier 1 Units in the U.S. Military?

Tier 1 Special Mission Units are elite teams chosen by invitation. They operate secretly under the Joint Special Operations Command within the United States Special Operations Command. These units are the best of the best and often collaborate with the CIA's Special Activities Center to form Special Operations Groups for covert missions requiring full political deniability.

In addition to performing highly classified activities, the special mission units are also tasked with “special missions”, sometimes referring to unconventional warfare, counter-terrorist activities, direct action, Special Reconnaissance, and black operations. So far, only 5 special mission units have been publicly disclosed:
