Setup Amazon Echo (Alexa) in your Car and things Echo Dot can do in your car

There are a lot of ways to set up Amazon Echo in your car and a lot of reasons for doing so. This video requires only a Mobile Phone with a Mobile Hotspot subscription, an Auxiliary cable and a phone charger.

If you have a wifi-enabled car or a dedicated wifi hotspot then you won't need the mobile hotspot. If you have Bluetooth then you won't need the auxiliary cable. If you use your full-sized Echo then you won't need to hook up to your car's speaker. If you use an Echo Tap you won't need to hook up to your car's speaker or power source. If you have a Vaux and a Dot you won't need an auxiliary cable or a power source.

So many options, but the scenario above is likely the most commonly encountered given most car stereos and Echo ownership.

What can you do with Echo in your car?

You can play music from Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, radio stations

you can listen to podcasts, audible books, play games in the Amazon Skills.

You can control your IoT and SmartHome devices on the go - eg. you can turn on lights on your approach, set your Nest's temperature, open a cat door :), talk to someone who owns an echo
