Mysterious secrets of Banja Luka's Hydro Electric Power Plant.

The old Hydro Electric Power Plant in Banja Luka.

Tamara and I decided to show you the old (original) hydro electric generating plant for Banja Luka, a remarkable relic of the past.

This Hydro Electric Power Plant, initially established and built by monks in 1899, were from the nearby Franciscan Trappist monastery.

The turbines for generating the electricity were in one of the largest hydro power plants in the Balkans at that time.

So, a real pioneer at a time of industrial development, but all that remains today is rusting equipment and a whole lot of graffiti.

I have to say, that seeing and walking around this piece of city history, I wonder why the city hasn’t turned this location into a working museum.

Living history for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.
