Unboxing the Honor 30 Pro Plus, a more affordable alternative to the Huawei P40 Pro boasting similar camera tech including a 5x optical periscope zoom. The rest of the specs are similar too, as we check out in this full tour of the Honor 30 Pro Plus' hardware and Magic UI software. Is this one of the best camera smartphones of 2020 so far?

The optics aren't exactly the same here vs the P40 Pro. You have the same primary 40MP sensor, this time without OIS, and a smaller 8MP sensor for the periscope lens. However, you can still capture great-looking photos and 4K video with this more budget-friendly phone.

The Honor P30 Pro Plus also serves up a very similar 90Hz OLED screen, this time with stereo speaker setup. You have that speedy Huawei Kirin 990 5G platform providing fast performance, plus a 4000mAh battery to keep you going all day.

So far I don't have a UK price or release date for the Honor 30 Pro Plus but hopefully it'll offer strong value for money, to compete with rival camera-focused handsets of 2020.
