Mike Reed plays a tribute to Walter Wanderley on the Hammond Organ
Walter Wanderley (Walter Jose Wanderley Mendonça) was born on May 12,1932 in Recife, Brazil, and he passed away on September 4, 1986. He was an organist and pianist, best known for his lounge and bossa nova music. He became an internationally renowned star in the mid-1960s through his collaboration with the singer Astrud Gilberto. Here are three of his best recorded songs, the first two written by Antonio Carlos Jobim, and the third one by Marcos Valle. He was a one-of-a-kind organist, and no one else ever had that sound on a Hammond Organ. Here is my humble tip-of-the-hat to him with thanks. :0)
