California Sea Lions: crazy facts you NEVER knew!

This video gives you some fun facts about California Sea Lions. The California Sea Lion is an adorable marine mammal (more specifically, pinnipeds) that you can see on a trip to the west coast of North America. In this video I explore their natural history and conservation, including information on their mating systems, population growth, swimming capabilities, and differences between sea lions and seals (both of which are pinnipeds). Hope you guys enjoy!

My name is Eddie and this channel is called Adventure Education. I educate others about nature and how to enjoy nature. If you are interested, click the subscribe button and the notification bell. On my channel I post videos that include natural history and ecology lessons, tips on how to find and photographing wildlife, ecotourism travel guides, app and gear reviews, and much more. Some activities I love to engage in are birding, herping, snorkeling, hiking, and wildlife photography. So subscribe and be a naturalist!

I also need to note that you should not approach seals, sea lions, or any other pinniped or marine mammal in the wild. Sea lions are generally friendly, but they can bite, so use caution and let them approach you (we have all seen that video of when that sea lion grabs girl and drags her into the water).

All of the science was primary literature. I did not feel like posting links to all of the primary sources I referenced just for the sake of time, but if you have a question, email me at ebwillia12@gmail.com and I can show you my references.

This video was shot on the coast of La Jolla, San Diego, California, USA using a Go Pro Hero 6, a Karma Drone, and Nikon D3200. I filmed all of the footage by myself and no stock footage was used.

It should be noted that I did not approach any wild animals while shooting this video--instead, they approached me, which abides by the laws protecting these animals. Though some of the overhead drone shots of the seals and sea lions appear relatively close to them, my drone was at least a hundred feet and fifty above them and the close up view is due to cropping the footage while using the editing software. The seals and sea lions did not even appear to exhibit behavior that suggested they could sense that the drone was in the sky, and all aerial footage of the animals was above the sea (it is legal to fly above the ocean anywhere in the USA).
