Sri Purandara Dasa is revered as the father of Karnatic music and a great Haridasa, who spread the message of bhakti (devotion) through music.

On the occasion of Sri Purandara Dasa Aradhana (11th February, 2021), we humbly present the composition “Daasarendare Purandara Dasarayya”, written by his own guru Sri Vyasateertha, praising him as the ideal Haridasa.

I am thrilled to present this collaboration with my friend and classical musician Manasi Prasad @ManasiPrasad

grAsakillade pOgi parara manegaLa pokku dAsanendu tuLasimAle dharisi
bEsarillade avara kADi bEDi baLalisuta kAsu gaLisuva puruSa haridAsanE

He, who goes to others houses
dressed in in a garland of tulsi pretending to be a dasa
He, who keeps on troubling others
asking for money, is he a Haridasa? Certainly not!

Charana 2:
Dambhakadi harismaraNe mADi janara munde sambhramadi tAnumba UTa bayasi
ambujOdbhava pitana AgamagaLariyade tambUri mITalava haridAsanE
He, who pretends to be remembering Hari
secretly craving delicious food
He, who doesn’t understand the philosophies of the Lord
he who doesn’t play a tambura, is he a Haridasa? Certainly not!

Charana 3:
nItiyellavanaritu nigamavEdyana nitya vAtasutanallihana varNisutali
gItanartanadinda kruSNanna pUjisuva pUtAtma purandaradAsarivarayya

He, who does what is right,
And sings the praises of the lord
He, who worships Krishna through song and dance
That pure soul is Purandara Dasa!
