No Shampoo 5 Month Video Diary | European Thin Oily Hair | Hard Water

I didn't wash my hair with commercial shop-bought shampoo for nearly 5 months. Instead, I went #nopoo and trialled natural alternatives like apple cider vinegar rinses, soap nuts, egg washes, apple sauce hair masks and washing with water only.

Shampoo strips away all the natural oils on hair, so the scalp produces more oil to compensate - hence greasy, lank hair. We also slather on conditioner to re-moisturise the dry hair we have created. However, our hair does this naturally! We've created a vicious cycle which means continuous washing, spending money on expensive hair products, exposure to chemicals and plastic & water waste.

I'll be honest, IT WAS A STRUGGLE.

I think this experiment really depends on your hair type, so it will be different process for everyone. If you're willing to go for it, save the hassle and follow a blog/online account of someone with a similar hair type to you and has had successful results.
