Chutney of the Week – Episode 8

This flaxseed chutney (alsi chutney) is simple, nutty, and slightly spicy — a little different from your usual chutneys but definitely worth trying.

Made with roasted flaxseeds, dals, red chillies, and garlic, this chutney is quick to prepare and pairs perfectly with everyday meals like rice, dal, idli, or dosa.

A small way to add something nutritious to your meals 💚

Ingredients:

4–5 tbsp flax seeds
2 tbsp chana dal
2 tsp urad dal
5-6 dry red chillies
3–4 garlic cloves
Few curry leaves
Salt to taste

Method:

Dry roast flax seeds until they start to crackle.
Roast chana dal, urad dal, red chillies, and curry leaves.
Let everything cool, then grind with garlic and salt into a coarse chutney powder.
