Albanese needs to ‘build that bridge’ with Israeli visit following terrorist attack

Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce says Prime Minister Anthony Albanese needs to reach out to Israel and build a bridge with the democratic nation.

“The instigation of this was Hamas, there is no equivocation about that and therefore the role of a prime minister is to reach out to Israel, a democratic nation who has been attacked by a terrorist organisation and to straight away build that bridge,” Mr Joyce told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“If you have other concerns in other areas they’re not going to be dealt with unless you actually reach out to Israel.

“If you say ‘I don’t want innocent people killed in the Gaza Strip’ … then you reach out to Israel and you talk to Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Mr Joyce’s comments come after October 7 when Israel declared war on the Palestinian terrorist group after Hamas fired thousands of rockets as far north as Tel Aviv.
