Our visit to Broadstairs, on the Kent coast

A visit to the charming seaside towns of Broadstairs, on Kent's east coast.

From its little harbour, the golden sands of Viking Bay with its little painted beach huts before climbing the modern-day 'Broad Stairs' to Victoria Parade and Victoria Gardens to take in the views of the English Coastline and promenade. There's history here from the famous Morelli's ice cream parlour & the Dickens House Museum.

A stroll on takes you to Broadstairs clocktower and a view of the beach & harbour with the Viking Bay Lift. Then it's time to head into the town with its quaint little shops, restaurants, cafes & tea rooms. Not to mention the fantastic array of pubs, from micro-brewers, craft pubs, traditional and then The Chapel.

We take a quick look at Pierremont Hall, the Georgian house that was a favourite of The Duchess of Kent and her daughter, Princess Victoria in the years 1826-1836, before the Princess became Queen Victoria.

Then we touch on the tale of Charles Dickens, who was a frequent visitor to Broadstairs, who stayed at Fort House, now known as Bleak House, where he is said to have penned David Copperfield.
