Charted at #83 on Billboard Hot 100 in May 1971, #8 on Adult Contemporary chart and #48 on Billboard Country chart. Written by Don McLean and originally recorded by him for an album released the year previous to this recording. A few years after Bobby's version, Perry Como turned the song into a huge hit. Original Billboard review: "Goldsboro follows his smash "Watching Scotty Grow" with a dynamite folk ballad penned by composer-performer Don McLean.
