Nun laßt die Fahnen fliegen (1938)

My only intention is to make information of the poem more easily accessible as again the little information that does exist is obscure and very scattered.)

Nun laßt die Fahnen fliegen is a poem written by Hans Baumann in 1934. The lyrics consist of dedication to the flag and one's devotion to Germany. This recording is from the 1940 propaganda film "Der Marsch zum Führer" After Hitler's speech to the youth and just before Baulder Von Sirach's swearing in of the youth. Unfortunately the only the 2nd and 3rd strophes we're recorded out of the four that there are probably to save film and the fact that the first and last strophes are nearly identical and don't hold as much meaning and emphasis as the 2nd and 3rd. Three versions of this exact recording exist but this is to my knowledge the highest quality version of it (at least in terms of audio quality)

Nun laßt die Fahnen fliegen
In das große Morgenrot,
Das uns zu neuen Siegen
Leuchtet oder brennt zum Tod.

Denn mögen wir auch fallen -
Wie ein Dom steht unser Staat.
Ein Volk hat hundert Ernten
Und geht hundertmal zur Saat.

Deutschland, sieh uns, wir weihen
Dir den Tod als kleinste Tat,
Grüßt er einst unsere Reihen,
Werden wir die große Saat.

Drum laßt die Fahnen fliegen
In das große Morgenrot,
Das uns zu neuen Siegen
Leuchtet oder brennt zum Tod.
Now let the flags fly
In the glorious sunrise,
That brings us to shining victories
or burning death.

Because even if we fall -
our state stands like a cathedral.
For a nation has a hundred harvests,
and goes to sowings a hundred times more.

Germany, look at us, we dedicate
death to you as the smallest deed,
once you greet our ranks,
we will become the great seed.

So let the flags fly
