1. Travel vaccinations:
You should book an appointment with your local nurse or a travel clinic WAY BEFORE YOU LEAVE! Some vaccines need to administered on more than one occasion and some vaccines have to be ordered in!

2. Taking medication abroad:
The best thing to do would be to book an appointment with your doctor to discuss your options. It will depend on the type of medication you are taking and also the laws within the country you are visiting if your doctor gives you a bulk prescription.

3. Contraception:
Pick a plan which will work best for your new lifestyle!

4. Travel insurance:
Travel insurance can be a drain on the bank account and a mental drain as you browse through hundreds of companies trying to decide which one to pick! But it’s an important step which shouldn’t be overlooked.

5. Insured to work abroad:
Working on a building site, they may only cover you to work on the ground floor.

6. Tie up those loose ends:
Try to tie up these loose ends back at home and either pay off your debts before you leave or organise a payment plan that works for you!

7. Tell your bank:
Banks love to block your card the moment you stick it into a foreign ATM so make sure you give them a ring and tell them the dates and destinations!

8. Have two accounts!

9. Overdrafts and credit cards:
It’s a great idea to organise an overdraft or credit card to keep on hand in case of an emergency!

10. Check your bank card isn’t due to expire!

11. Get your hands on an International drivers licence!

12. Pack your student ID card!

13. Get Skype premium for calling home and your bank!

14. Open up your phone so it can accept all sim cards!

15. Copy your passport, print it and email a copy to yourself!

16. For working visa’s, print it and keep your qualifications and CV on a flash drive!

17. Write it down! All the important numbers!

18. Packing: Half it and half it again!

19. For larger people, buying clothes and shoes in places in Asia can be next to impossible!
