6th April 1996 4-6-2 34027 Taw Valley on Pathfinder Tours 1Z63 Crewe to Swansea 'Tawe Taw Tourer'
On a very misty 6 April 1996, West Country Class 4-6-2 No. 34027 Taw Valley worked the Pathfinder Tours 1Z63 06:28 Crewe to Swansea 'Tawe Taw Tourer' on the Bristol to Swansea leg.
However it failed half a mile from Bridgend Station on the Vale of Glamorgan line. The tour continued following a Class 60 arriving from Margam to take the train forward.
Here we briefly see the loco at Bristol before it backs onto the train. Then climbing into Cardiff Central Platform 4 before passing Cardiff Canton, Cadoxton, Porthkerry Viaduct and finally near Bridgend.
It was good as we passed Barry to think this loco once resided in the scrap yard there, before being removed and restored!
