The truth about Music Competitions - Rubinstein 2021

What matters most, in the world of music and where is it all going?

Recordings of great masters in the past probably wouldn’t even pass the first round of a competition, for revealing an authenticity in expression, ‘taking risks’, placing the ideal and musical interpretation at the forefront of their performance.
Nowadays things are different. There is an idea of perfection which sits so far from what music is in the first place.
The more technically perfect, the more impressive.

Please forgive my commentary on this video, but this, to me, is unhealthy for many reasons and very detrimental to young musicians. I felt it important to take a stance.

Of course it may not come as a surprise but to be saying this out loud on a platform where people are coming to listen to emerging talent of musicians (and from a pianist that supposedly took part in the competition herself) is both ridiculous and very sad.

We cannot let such things pass our radar. It is our duty to keep Music Alive and be brave enough to pursue a passion and path that will bring much inner fullfilment, inspiration, wonder and healing.
