Malua Bay firestorm 31/12/19

On the last day of the decade in 2019, a major firestorm hit the town of Bateman’s Bay. What then ensured was an emergency event as fire descended on all of the suburbs. We have two houses in Malua Bay, our main house and another house where we store our boat and Jetski’s. Ryan and I, our neighbours Ray and Brian, several members of the Malua Bay Lifesaving Club defended by putting out spot fires that started via embers. Unfortunately there was no RFS or Police, no doubt attending other fires. Our neighbour Brian put out three fires at our other property which no doubt would have burnt down our property, we also put out another three fires that started from embers there. I put out a grass fire that was threatening the vehicles in Malua Bay and Ryan moved a car that was about to be engulfed and had the keys in the ignition. This video is a historical record of what I witnessed on that day for future generations, my condolences to those who lost property on this awful day, I have included some in this video for historical purposes.
