Stop Installing Linux Mint Everywhere! Homelab RAM Management, LXC, and Proxmox Efficiency Secrets.
When building my three-node Proxmox cluster with 32GB of RAM, I quickly maxed out the memory running full GUI versions of Linux Mint and Ubuntu VMs. Experienced users suggested that desktop environments are RAM hogs. The solution involves migrating tasks to dramatically more efficient LXC containers (some use only 50MB of RAM), enabling memory ballooning, and avoiding buying RAM during the current price surge. Using 50% of your RAM is normal, and unused RAM is wasted RAM. The key is better management, not more hardware.
