Inside of one of the older wine reality of Armenia: Voskevaz winery

Voskevaz winery is one of the oldest enterprises of Armenia for the production of wine. The winery was opened in 1932 in Voskevaz village during the Soviet period, to process the grapes of the fertile vineyards in Aragatsotn, at the foothills of Mount Aragats.

The village of Voskevaz, meaning golden bunch in Armenian, is located on the edge of the picturesque gorge of Kasagh River. The region has an ancient history of wine-making and so many karases (clay potteries) were found in the church of Surp Hovhannes, dating back to the 7th century.

The wines are produced both from local grape varieties of Aragatsotn region and also from other region of Armenia, with the use of the famous Karabakh oak-barrels for the purpose of wine aging. Most of the grapes used for production are Voskehat, Kangun, Muscat (white) and Kakhet, Haghtanhak, Areni (red).
The winery produces a variety of red and white, dry, semisweet, liqueur and vintage wine.
