Try this before buying a new slide out motor

As we were leaving our last Harvest Host location, Our slide and landing gear would not work. We originally thought that the motor was bad but I heard a chattering coming from the front of the RV when we were engaging the slides and auto-leveling.

It took me a minute to find where the chattering was coming from. It sounded as if it was coming from the motor which was odd.

I don't know a lot about hydraulic slide out motors but I have never heard a motor chatter. When I took a closer look into the bay, found that the chattering was coming from a piece with four prongs. It sounded as if a relay was chattering everytime we attempted to bring the slides in.

I made some calls and all the RV dealerships told me that the motor had gone bad. I even called a few mobile repair guys and they said the motor was bad.

We manually brought the slides in and hit the road. Along our route we made a wrong turn and ended up directly in front of a mobile RV repair truck in South Carolina.

I asked the guy what he thought could be wrong with my motor and suggested that I try replacing this little piece first before buying an expensive motor.

$18 later the motor works great. So try this little relay before spending hundreds on a new motor.
