Floriston, Verdi, W. Truckee Jan 13 2013

By far the coldest foaming experience for me. Detector at Floriston said it was 11. While waiting for trains we were jogging up and down the nearby hill to warm up the toes. The sweat from my eyebrows while making the 1 mile walk to the searchlights at MP 227 were icicles. My hot chocolate I packed in a thermos what spilled out looked like Magic Shell. Our cameras and lenses were also lagging due to the cold temps. Good count of trains on this day, even a BN manifest and we managed to get the UP 1988 leading the N. Platt manifest outside of Truckee at dusk. 203 Detector there was off its rocker though. Said it was 6 degrees if I remember right, but it felt MUCH warmer than it was earlier that day down at Floriston!
