Play Africa - Women in STEM - How can educators & parents help children to think scientifically?

The scientific method we're taught in school includes various steps: observe, ask a question, develop a hypothesis, do an experiment, analyse the results of the experiment, and develop a conclusion.

But scientific thinking starts by asking questions. Simply by encouraging children to ask questions, educators and parents can play an important role in helping children develop scientific thinking! Start with question words: How? Why? and What?

Play Africa (playafrica.org.za) is southern Africa's leading children’s museum, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Based at the iconic Constitution Hill, a former prison complex that is now the seat of South Africa’s Constitutional Court, Play Africa operates in the courtyards just 15 metres from the cell where former President Nelson Mandela was once incarcerated.
