DOJ: If ICC issues warrant, filing extradition or surrendering suspect is executive’s prerogative

Soundbytes: Justice Secretary Frederick Vida said former Public Works secretary Manuel Bonoan should go to court if he still intends to travel to the United States, following the issuance of a precautionary hold departure order against him for being a flight risk. Meanwhile, DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez said the agency will heed the Supreme Court’s ruling on the service of warrants by the International Criminal Court to alleged co-perpetrators of former President Rodrigo Duterte in drug war killings.
